When it comes to your overall health, there are few things more debilitating than an injury to your hips or your knees. Dr. Kent Woo knows all too well how quickly joint pain in these critical areas can lead to pain elsewhere, but fortunately he also knows like few others how to treat nearly every injury these joints face. 

​

Born in Augusta, Georgia, Woo began his journey toward orthopedics at the University of Georgia where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. After working his way through medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, he headed toward the University of Mississippi, where he completed a one-year internship in general surgery and a five-year residency in orthopedic surgery.

 His interest in joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee, and his growing reputation within the field, gave him a spot in a one-year fellowship at the Arizona Institute for Bone and Joint Disorders. There he advanced his knowledge under the tutelage of pioneering joint replacement surgeon Dr. Anthony Hedley. This unique opportunity allowed him to study knee replacement with a renowned surgeon who helped design them.

Having followed the pull of his strong Georgia roots, Woo now practices at Optim Orthopedics where he has performed more than 4,000 minimally invasive total knee surgeries - including difficult primary replacements, revision procedures, and partial knee replacements – as well as 3,000 total hip replacements and more than 1,500 direct anterior total hip replacements.

Dr. Woo and his wife Danielle have a son, Kameron, who joins them in their travels and their passion for the outdoors. In his community, Woo is known as an ardent advocate for the arts and a fervent protector of local endangered loggerhead turtles.
