William "Cole" Skinner MD

Cole Skinner MD, is a board certified, fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery for musculoskeletal injuries at Optim Orthopedics.

William “Cole” Skinner, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon who is proud to bring his expertise back home to Savannah, GA. Born and raised in the Hostess City, Dr. Skinner is passionate about serving the community that shaped him and providing exceptional orthopedic care to patients across Southeast Georgia.

Dr. Skinner earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia before graduating from the Medical College of Georgia, where he was recognized as a Harrison Scholar and inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the renowned Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN — the nation’s first orthopedic residency program — where he served as Chief Resident. His training included extensive experience in high-volume, high-acuity trauma care, as well as advanced elective orthopedic procedures with fellowship-trained specialists.

Following residency, Dr. Skinner pursued subspecialty training through the Baylor Scott & White Foot and Ankle Fellowship in Dallas, TX. He is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and will begin serving on the AOFAS Young Physicians Committee in October 2025.

Dr. Skinner’s path to medicine was shaped by both his love of science and his personal experiences as an athlete recovering from sports injuries. He chose foot and ankle surgery for its intricate anatomy, wide range of conditions, and the opportunity to help patients regain mobility and return to the activities they love. Outside of work, he enjoys college football (especially cheering on the Dawgs), fishing, golf, and gardening.
